Terms of Use

These Terms of Use set the conditions for using National City Residents Directory. Access or use of the reference service means the terms are accepted. Do not use it if you do not agree.

1. The Reference Service

National City Residents Directory is privately operated. It describes and links to public rolls, record indexes, and directory collections connected with people who live or lived in National City, California. Government records are not hosted here, and there is no affiliation with a public office, court, library, or records custodian.

2. Acceptable Use

Use the service only in a lawful way. You may not use the pages or information reached through them to:

  • Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm any person
  • Locate someone protected by a restraining or protective order
  • Commit identity theft or fraud
  • Make FCRA-regulated decisions involving credit, employment, tenant screening, insurance, or similar eligibility
  • Scrape, copy, or republish the site's content at scale
  • Interfere with the site's operation or security

3. No Consumer Reporting Agency Status

The service is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. section 1681 and following sections. Neither the pages nor results from a linked search tool are consumer reports. They may not be used to decide eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another purpose covered by the FCRA.

4. External Links

Government portals, archives, libraries, and third-party services, including sponsored search tools, set their own terms and privacy policies. National City Residents Directory is not responsible for their content, availability, charges, or data practices.

5. Disclaimers of Warranty

The service is supplied "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. No promise is made that a page, link, record description, or outside portal is accurate, complete, current, available, or capable of returning a correct result.

6. Liability Limits

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or similar damages arising from use of the service or an outside resource, including a decision based on a record reached through it.

7. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold the operators harmless from a claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, that results from misuse of the service or breach of these terms.

8. Intellectual Property

The original writing, design, logo, and layout are protected by copyright. Links and brief attributed quotations are welcome. Full-page republication and systematic copying are not permitted.

9. Changes

A revised version may be posted here. Continued use after the revision takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

10. Access Restrictions

Access may be blocked or limited when a user violates these terms or abuses the service. That action may be taken without advance notice.

11. Governing Law

California law governs these terms without regard to conflict-of-law principles. References to public-record access concern the California Public Records Act, Government Code sections 7920.000-7931.000, but that statute does not override separate court, voter, vital-record, or privacy rules.

12. Severability

If a provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.

13. Questions

Questions about these terms may be sent through the Contact page.
