Information You Send
Names, phone numbers, and addresses entered into a search form are sent to the third-party provider that supplies the results. National City Residents Directory does not retain a copy of those search entries on its own servers. A message sent to the contact address contains only the details included by the sender and is used to answer the inquiry.
Routine Technical Logs
Hosting systems may record an IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps. Those entries are reviewed in aggregate for reliability and readership patterns. Basic analytics or advertising measurement may also use cookies or similar tools when enabled by the service configuration.
How the Information Is Used
The limited technical information supports operation, fault repair, traffic counts, and page improvement. Visitor lists are not sold, and individual reader profiles are not created.
External Portals and Tools
Pages link to county and state record systems, library collections, archives, and sponsored search tools. Information submitted on those services is governed by their own privacy notices. The providers, rather than National City Residents Directory, control the data practices of those destinations.
Possible Recipients
Hosting and support vendors may process the technical logs described above. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the corresponding automatic data. Disclosure occurs when a valid legal process requires it; otherwise, the information is not shared for a separate purpose.
Security and Retention
The service uses an encrypted connection, and logs are kept only for the operational purposes described above. There are no reader accounts, passwords, or personal profiles stored here.
Readers Under 18
The reference service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If a minor’s information was sent to the contact address, ask us to remove it.
Your California Privacy Choices
California’s Consumer Privacy Act, Civil Code section 1798.100 and following sections, can provide rights to know, delete, correct, opt out of sale or sharing, use Global Privacy Control, and limit certain sensitive-data uses, subject to exceptions. Covered requests generally receive a response within 45 calendar days, with a possible 45-day extension after notice; opt-out requests generally take effect within 15 business days. Because only limited data is kept here, a request can be made through the Contact page and will be checked against our mailbox and logs.
California’s government records remain with their custodians. A request to remove a deed, court entry, voter record, or vital record must go to the office that holds it. The state DROP mechanism under Civil Code section 1798.99.86 concerns registered data brokers and does not erase the original government record.
